RON’S JOURNAL NO. 2

It seems from here that the world went through a psychotic break in October. Along with Cuba and the near boom of the bomb, with Russia helping India against Red China, things closer to home also went spinny.

There were crimes in the world of Scientology in the following places: South Africa, England, Australia and the U.S.

Two of these emergencies were governmental.

One (England) was Town & Country Planning. They have since granted us rights to retain and use our buildings and this flap is over and successfully ended for us, so we don’t have to move and the course goes on.

The other governmental emergency (U.S.) was traced to the irate parents of a student who were hammering at FDA (Food, Drug Admin.) to seize all E-meters and clo[se] down all Scientology in the U.S. One wonders at their missed withholds! The matter is being fought but 35 Mark IVs are held up in Customs in the U.S. on F.D.A. orders. The F.D.A. has been trying for years to halt our meters. They have authority over all “diagnostic and therapeutic electrical machinery.” They pass as wonderful all psychiatric electric shock machines even when they kill patients. One wonders at the political colour that favours machines that murder and outlaws those that disclose truth.

The other two emergencies  were caused by Rock Slammers, so upgrade the importance of Rock Slam and ordinary sec checks.

The lesser one was caused by a Rock Slammer, since suspended, auditing the HCO Continental Sec Australia. This situation is in hand now.

The whole disgraceful Johannesburg mess was caused by Rock Slammers. They were two in number – Senogles and van Niekerk. Advertised as clear (by themselves) they both check out on the meter with TA at 1.5 and both RS-ing on LRH and van Niekerk also on “an auditor.” Jack Parkhouse returned in time to deliver the new addition to his family and to get things under control from Cape Town. But the tide turned with the arrival of Quintin [Schnehage] as Assoc. Sec. at Johannesburg, backed up a week later by Joan Oberholtzer as Technical Director.

Aside from the fact that entheta persists, Jack, Quintin and Joan, with good support from Durban and Port Elizabeth, have things well under control. An aside comment on this, the Johannesburg area, with all these “clearing” reports was lousy with wrong goals. Evidently only Vicky du Toit is clear.

It is highly probable that we will shortly convert all SA to Scientology 1970 as private practice was at the root of most of this — next to Rock Slammers.

So the general situation, with a lot of fast comm and hard work has calmed down.

With all this I’ve been auditing my head off getting data for Routine 3-21, the Twenty-One steps to O.T., and gave up lecturing this week to get it into HCO Bulletin form. About half the pcs were running into goal finding and listing trouble which was solvable only by individual handling or several procedures.  I’ve gotten this all under one run-down with only one of 21 steps varied for the rougher case, so I feel we’re way ahead on this now. We made a 1st goal clear this week on course.

Early darkness and autumn chill are upon us. I have my new Pontiac out in the garage (sigh) and no spare instant to drive it. It’s my cameras and cars which suffer in the midst of all these flaps.
